Wick size and count

CandleEasy uses the selected wax’s published chart first. If the chart has no usable answer, it uses CandleEasy’s general wick-count rule and shows placement without inventing a wick size.

Placement

One wick is centered. Multiple wicks are spaced evenly on a ring halfway between the center and the wall.

What still needs testing

Published guidance is a starting point. Your burn test must confirm the wick, flame behavior, and vessel temperature for the finished formula.

Before you burn test
The burn test settles the wick
Burn in roughly four-hour cycles with the wick trimmed to ¼", through the whole candle rather than the first burn or two, and judge the flame and the wick, not only the melt pool.
Watch how the flames behave
A flame should not touch the side of the vessel for more than five seconds, and multiple wicks should not come close enough to merge into one flame. Watch for both with your own eyes, through the whole candle.
A formula change means testing again
Wax, fragrance, fragrance load, dye and additives all change how much fuel a wick draws, so a wick proven with one formula is not proven with another.
Measure once, mark it twice — then let the burn test have the last word.
